What is NUCCA Chiropractic Care?

NUCCA stands for the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association. It was founded in 1966 by Dr. Ralph Gregory. NUCCA is based on The Restoration Principle. The practicing NUCCA doctor’s objective is to restore the spine as close to vertical as possible. This process is based on correcting the misalignment factors as they relate to the head and neck. The NUCCA procedure has wide range of ramifications throughout the body. This includes, but is not limited to, neurological changes, CSF and blood flow, spinal muscular rebalancing as well as structural integrity of the spine.

The balancing of the spine, including the pelvis, must start with correcting the relationship between the head to the neck. The main balancing centers of the body are located in the center of the head (the vestibular coacher apparatus). As the relationship of the head to the neck is brought back closer toward the gravity line, the muscles of the back will bring the base of support (the pelvis) to return itself under the skull in order to establish equilibrium of the entire spine.

NUCCA also has a research branch that has published a number of research projects over the past 3 decades. This branch of NUCCA is UCRF which stands for the Upper Cervical Research Foundation. UCRF has supported the advancement of the knowledge base of and the study of the reduction of the atlas subluxation complex.
